15 Random Botanical Terms
Alternate - Placed singly at different heights on the stem; not opposite or whorled.
Native - A plant that lives or grows naturally in a particular region without direct or indirect human intervention.
Quadrifidus - Divided into four parts.
Pinnate - Arranged along an axis. Leaves may be pinnately compound (see below) and/or pinnately lobed; they may also have pinnate venation, with veins extending from the midrib.
Corm - A short, fleshy underground stem, broader than high, producing stems from the base and leaves and flower stems from the top.
Acute - Pointed apex with margins that form an angle between 45 and 90 degrees.
Denticulate - Finely toothed.
Shrub - A low growing, usually less than 15 feet, woody perennial plant without a central stem.
Oval - Having the general form, shape, or outline of an egg; egg-shaped.
Panicle - A branched raceme; a raceme of racemes.
Deltoid - Triangular.
Glabrous - Smooth; hairless.
Catkin - A spikelike flower cluster that bears scaly bracts and petalless, unisexual flowers.

Mucronate - Leaf apex with short spiny tip.
